Choices Counselling Service

Choices Counselling provides a high-quality, confidential counselling service.   Our team of qualified counsellors and psychotherapists specialises in pregnancy related issues, including support around decision-making in unplanned pregnancy.

Choice Counselling Services

We can arrange appointments at our offices above The Source coffee shop in Buxton and at GP surgeries and children’s centres in Chesterfield, Buxton, New Mills, Matlock and across North Derbyshire.

This service provides individual listening support and skilled help using a range of approaches.    We provide care for anyone experiencing antenatal or postnatal depression, perinatal anxiety, family problems, or difficulties after a miscarriage, termination or stillbirth.

All our counsellors work within the ethical guidelines of their respective counselling bodies and the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Counselling sessions normally cost at least £35 per hour so if you are able to contribute towards that, we would appreciate a donation to help cover our costs. However, if you cannot afford this, Choices will seek to fund these sessions for you, as we do not wish to turn anyone away.

The first session involves an initial discussion and will help you decide if counselling will be helpful to you. There is no obligation to continue, but most people find it helps to talk if something is troubling them.  Sessions usually last an hour and the number of sessions will depend on the needs of the individual.  There will be regular opportunities to review progress with your counsellor.

About Us

As a Christian charity, we aim to provide caring, sensitive and non-judgmental services, motivated by the love of Christ and His compassion and care for those in need of hope and encouragement. We willingly offer support in full compliance with current Equality legislation.

Coronavirus Response

We live in very challenging times. Along with everyone, Choices counsellors are observing all government and medical advice. We are therefore unable to provide face-to-face counselling until restrictions are lifted.

However, our counsellors have received the necessary training to enable them to provide support by telephone or video link.

If you are in urgent need, please contact us and we will do our best to help.
